Protect who from what?

I’ve been hearing this stuff about the primary job of government is to protect the people since well before the election.

Let me quote something a few may have heard before.

“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness. — That to secure these rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just powers from the consent of the governed.”

According to this the primary job of government is to secure the rights of it people. When security supercedes liberty tyranny is at hand.

A burocricy, dressed as a democracy, lead by a technocracy under the auspices of a plutocracy is something I’ve never consented too. How about you?
